Abstract

From the observation of reactions to the reading of a thesis that, in general, intended to address the phenomenon of stereotype that often accompanies the look the «other» (French journalist) poses for Brazil, we would consider in this article on why the outbreak of verbal rather carried away, which emerged during the oral presentation of two members of the jury. It supports the following hypothesis: the same stereotypes can arouse different emotions in different subjects-interpretants. In this sense, the subject-teacher A, analyzed the stereotypes seemed rather amusing, if not sympathetic: beautiful country, love of life, friendly people, however, the subject-teacher B, the same body has divided the sentiments of revolt against the eye than the other, the stranger was on the Brazilians. We shall therefore, from the cases cited, the reason for the appearance of so many conflicting emotions and side ambivalent stereotypes that are sometimes positive, sometimes negative. The controversy in this case, can be seen as a form of argument? This summary points in our article will attempt to approach.
