Abstract

In this paper I intend to present E. Husserl's approach to the phenomenon of the verification of the truth of an assertion, that is, the phenomenon of knowledge legitimation, and Husserl's concept of truth resulting from that very approach. In this treatment one must describe how the state of agreement of judgments with reality appears to us in the realm of 'intentional life', i.e., in the flow of experiences (Erlebnisstrom). Accordingly one must consider the experiences that are mobilized in this phenomenon: the signitive intentional experience, the intuitive intentional experience and the intentional experience responsible for the covering synthesis (Deckungssynthese). Our final aim is to clarify not just Husserl's conception of verification as an act of identification, but also Husserl's first concept of truth as a relation of 'identity between the meant and the given'.
