Abstract

The essay “Art as Form of Reality” corresponds to a conference given by Herbert Marcuse at the Guggenheim Museum, New York, in 1969 and published for the first time in a collection on the future of art - On the Future of Art - organized by Edward Fry, in 1970. In the essay, Marcuse will argue in favor of the otherness of art in face of reality, mainly through the emphasis given to artistic Form, the sole holder of the political potential of art.
