Abstract

"Through" is a central notion in John Cage's thinking. This term appears in the artist's writings as a conceptual tool encompassing a series of concrete operations implemented by Cage himself or observed by the composer in the works of other artists. What does this notion of Cage consist of? Throughout this article, we shall endeavor to explore this question by shedding light on some convergences between the approach of the North American composer and use of glass in certain modern architectural works.
