Abstract

This article seeks to indicate several possible ways that researchers of the history of the reading can use to demonstrate which books the historical characters in focus really had access and which ones they actually read. That is important for the context of the Inconfidência Mineira, one political movement marked by several cultural practices as the collective and oral reading, the loan of books, the translation, the memorization and recitation of books passages, the indirect references, etc.
