Poder eclesiástico, idéias progressistas e estratégias para a emergência das comunidades eclesiais de base na Arquidiocese de Mariana
Abstract
This study analyzes the actions of ideologically progressive groups within the Archidiocese of the Mariana during the administration of conservative Archbishop Dom Oscar de Oliveira (1959 1988), as well as the process of transformation of a progressive character within the Archdiocese during the 1990s. These transformation were influenced no only by the arrival of Dom Luciano de Almeida as new Archbishop of Mariana, in 1988, but also by ideas and activities of a number of Catholic lay groups and priests. The arrival and administration of Archbishop Dom Luciano provided the political opportunity and institutional space wich enable these preexisting socio-political and ideological networks, articulated with the ideas and action of the Movement of New Social Order (MOBON) and Diocese of the Caratinga, to transform the Archdiocese of Mariana into an instituiton with more progressive ideas and practices. Oral history and the analysis of documents provided diversified sourcs of information and points of view, permitng corroboration and inferences.
