Abstract

This article analyses the economic profile of the graduated officers of the “Companhias de Ordenanças” in Vila Rica in 1735-1777. Then the paper analyses the process of the reproduction and structuration of this privileged social group and also evaluate the mechanisms utilized by them to stay as officers and, thus, legitimate and maximize their authority in conquests.
