Abstract
This paper deals with Minas Gerais' plan of cooperative promotion and coffee valuation. We discuss rise of the coffee crisis in 1906 and the solution found for the question of overhavest. We point out the historiographical discussions about the Taubaté Agrement, its applicability and its signature to the possibility of buying the bags coffe of the production surplus of Minas Gerais, Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo. We analyze the politics actions of João Pinheiro and the group known as “the kindergarten” to finance the support of cooperatives. The Minas Gerais government managed to make Afonso Pena authorize the loan to São Paulo, making possible overtax reversion, and thus, the support of Minas Gerais plan.
