Um ensaio sobre o regionalismo político norte-mineiro

Abstract

This paper discusses about the regionalism in the north of Minas Gerais, in special in its politics manifestations. The main goal is to understand and to criticize the production and the diffusion of a historic memory, in which is presented in the north of Minas, since its historical origin a political, economical and social formation distinct from the rest of Minas Gerais. To oppose to this thesis, this article studies the actions and discourses produced by the regional dominant group since the first half of the XIX century, seeking to show their deep articulation with the government of Minas Gerais, and specially, the constant reconnaissance of the dominant group of Montes Claros and of the north of Minas Gerais from their condition of their regional identity of “mineiros”.
