Children-exposure in Mariana

the role of the Municipal Council (1748-1822)

Abstract

This paper discusses the exposure of children in Mariana, Minas Gerais, since 1748 to 1822. Throughout the consultation of the Livros de Receita e Despesa da Câmara concerning this period, located on the Arquivo Histórico da Câmara Municipal de Mariana, one seeks to evaluate how and in wich extent the Municipal Council invested its incomes in the raising of abandoned children.
