Abstract

This article aims to relate some of the biographical issues of Francisca Senhorinha da Motta Diniz, who used to be a writer, editor and owner of a journal which made a great difference during the 19th century women's movement on the way for their rights. This is to relate Francisca Diniz's literary works to her proposals on the women's emancipation as well as to associate her professional background with her personal history. Here are some of her feminist publications: O Sexo Feminino (1873 –1889), O Quinze de Novembro do Sexo Feminino (1889 –1890), the magazine Primavera (1880) - written and edited by her - inaddition to the novel A Judia Rachel, by Francisca Diniz, published in 1886.
