Abstract

The significant role played by militant socialist women during the historic period before the First World War led to the creation of many feminine groups in side social democratic parties in Europe. These groups understood the struggle for women’s emancipation as been a part of a wider emancipator socialist project, embracing a radical conception of equality which would exclude all forms of oppression. The paper intends to analyze the contribution of Alexandra Kollontai –famous Russian revolutionary – to the formation of a revolutionary feminist movement within the social democracy, and her importance to the development and organization of action strategies for the “new revolutionary women”.
