The writer and the radio - seven novels by Erico Verissimo
Abstract
The article analyzes the presence of radio in seven Erico Verissimo novels published between 1933-1943, a period in which the vehicle was deployed and developed in the country. It seeks to verify how radio is incorporated into literacy production and also reflected the circulating imaginaries about the new theconology at the time. With these objectives, the 58 excerpts in the novels and the radio categories present were analyzed. It is concluded that the vehicle is perceived as new thecnology and status symbol, being used to broadcast music, News, advertising, soap operas and recent professions such as radio singers. These categories emerge as the radio is established over time and the writer incorporated them. The study about imaginaries utilized the authors Morin (1984), Silva (2003), Sarlo (1997) and Beauvoir (1982).
