Abstract

The text presents the changes in the radio dial of the São Luís Metropolitan Region between 2014 and 2024, based on a mediographic operation (Silva, 2011), which recovers key moments of this transformation through public information provided by the broadcasters themselves and specialized portals. As part of the methodology, temporal charts are developed to help visualize the changes that occurred within the defined period. Curado (2015), Prata, and Del Bianco (2018) are some of the theoretical references supporting this investigation. It is noteworthy that the region experienced not only the migratory movement of commercial stations but also the expansion of community broadcasters (Costa, 2016), reinforcing the role of radio as an accessible and relevant communication medium for the local population. The research highlights the importance of documenting these transformations to build a historical record, preserve memory, and understand the evolution of radio in the region.

Jefferson Saylon Lima de Sousa, Federal University of Maranhão

Communicologist and Radio Broadcaster (STE-0002114/MA) with an emphasis on Sound Design and Audio Editing. Substitute Professor at the Department of Social Communication - Radio and TV/Audiovisual Course at the Federal University of Maranhão (DCS/UFMA). Master in Communication from the Postgraduate Program in Communication - Professional Modality of the Federal University of Maranhão (PPGCOMPro/UFMA) and Bachelor in Social Communication - Radio and TV from the Federal University of Maranhão (UFMA). Specialist in Educommunication and Technology from the International University Center (UNINTER). Winner of the 2023 Intercom Communication Research Award for Best Dissertation in the Professional Master's category. He is dedicated to research in the areas of: Media Studies, Sound Studies, Cyberculture, Educommunication and Audiovisual Translation. Vice-coordinator of the Communication Strategies Research Group (GPECOM) where he is a researcher for Line 01 - Communication Processes in Multimedia (COMULTI) and coordinator of the Mutirão Expocom project. Active in radio and TV stations, podcast projects, in addition to developing freelance activities as a consultant, producer, scriptwriter and editor of sound content in multimedia.

Carlos Benedito Alves da Silva Júnior, Federal University of Maranhão

Assistant Professor in the Department of Social Communication of the Federal University of Maranhão and Researcher at the Center for Studies in Communication Strategies - NEEC (CNPq/UFMA), and the Research Group on Communication, Discourse, Language and Memory in the Amazon (CNPq/UFPA), working mainly on the following themes: sound studies, audiovisual language and radio studies.
