Periodismo narrativo personal y podcasting

Resumen

En su libro Speaking personally (2013), Rosalind Coward mapea el surgimiento de una nueva forma cultural: la narración confesional en el periodismo. La autora se refiere a esta escritura en primera persona como quizás el “área de mayor crecimiento del periodismo” (p.12). Tanto los entrevistados como los periodistas comparten sus experiencias de la vida real, especialmente adecuadas para los entornos más íntimos y personales de los medios digitales. Estas historias personales a menudo suelen tratar de temas que pueden parecer triviales y domésticos, “la vida emocional más intima, lo opuesto a los temas considerados apropiados al periodismo” (2013, p. 8). Esta es un área que hasta ahora ha recibido atención crítica limitada. Este artículo investiga el surgimiento de narrativas de audio personales en el contexto de podcasting. Sostiene que el movimiento hacia las narrativas personales está intrínsecamente vinculado a la naturaleza íntima del medio de audio. En ninguna parte esta tendencia es más obvia que en los Estados Unidos, donde los recientes desarrollos de podcasts lideran el camino con enfoques personales y subjetivos para cuentacuentos (storytelling). El rápido crecimiento de este estilo de narración se intensifica por la reciente experimentación en forma y género, que ofrece podcasting, liberado de las convenciones y los horarios de transmisión. Este artículo se basa en el estudio de Coward sobre periodismo impreso y lo extiende a los formatos de audio, a través de los podcasts. Identifica mediante un análisis crítico de tres podcasts de EE. UU. un género emergente de periodismo narrativo personal en podcasting.

Mia Lindgren, Swinburne University of Technology

Decana da Escola de Artes, Ciências Sociais e Humanidades na Faculdade de Saúde, Artes e Design da Swinburne University of Technology, em Melbourne, na Austrália. É co-editora do The Radio Journal: International Studies in Broadcast and Audio Media e editora associada da RadioDoc Review. É autora de dois livros sobre radiodifusão: Australian Broadcast Journalism (OUP, 2013; 2005; 2002) e Den Självkörda Radioboken (Liber, 2005). Pesquisadora financiada pelo Australian Research Council e pelo National Health and Medical Research Council, conquistou, em 2015, o Anne Dunn Research Excellence Award, prêmio concedido pela Australian and New Zealand Communication Association e pela Journalism Education and Research Association of Australia. Trabalhou como jornalista na Swedish Broadcasting Corporation e produziu radiodocumentários para diversas emissoras internacionais.
