General Guidelines
1. Revista Caletroscópio accepts original papers and book reviews of interest to linguistic and literary studies, creating an interface with cultural memory, translation, discursive practices, as well as language learning and teaching. We do not accept chapters from dissertations or theses, whereby this condition may be verified in the text.
2. We accept submissions from graduate students, and scholars holding a master’s or a doctoral degree.
3. All articles submitted to Revista Caletroscópio that conform to the standards outlined herein, shall be presented to the Editorial Board, which can: (i) accept; (ii) suggest modifications to structure and/or content; (iii) reject, providing reasons for their decision.
3.1The original articles will be blind peer reviewed. The authors will be informed upon approval.
3.2 Should there be disagreement as to the evaluation, a third reviewer shall be requested to make an assessment. After the review, the journal will forward the files to the authors, together with suggestions and instructions from the reviewers for modification, should this be the case.
3.3 Those works that do not conform to the guidelines established for the presentation of articles will be returned to the authors.
4. Revista Caletroscópio only accepts one article per year by each author or group of authors.
Formatting and Reference Guidelines
1. Original articles should be between 5 and 7 thousand words in length (including title and references). Reviews should be between 2 to 3 thousand words in length. The font to be used for all papers is Times New Roman, size 12, with spacing of 1.5 between lines.
2. The text cannot contain the name(s) of the author(s), nor the author’s affiliation.
3. References to authors cited in the body of the text or in quotations must follow the following format: a) when the author’s name is in the body of the text: Author (year, page number), as in Crystal (2003, p. 232); b) when the author’ name appears in parenthesis: (AUTHOR, year, page number), as in (CRYSTAL, 2003, p.332). For other cases, please see the ABNT guidelines.
3.1 When citing one´s own work, the identification should be given as XXX, in the references and body of the text.
4. Articles may be structured in numbered sections and subsections.
5. Footnotes, rather than endnotes must be used, employing a continuous arabic number sequence throughout the text.
6. Citation of up to three lines should appear within the body of the text. Citations of more than three lines should be set off from the text (indented).
7. The first page of the article or review should contain:
7.1 Title of the article or review: If the text is in Portuguese, the title should be in the same language; centered, on the first line of text, in bold set with capital letters for the first letter and for names, in Times New Roman font size 12; repeat the title in English, with the same formatting as above, but in Italics. If the text is in English, the title should be in the same format, using the rules specified above, repeating the title in Portuguese in Italics. If the text is in Spanish, use the same rules, in Spanish and English. If the text is in French, use the rules above, in French and English.
7.2 The article (one per group or author) should forwarded online in two digital files, using Word for Windows (version 6 or later), as per the guidelines. The text of the first file should omit any identification of the author or authors. In the text of the second file, include a page (to be annexed in “Documentos suplementares”, in stage 2 of the platform), containing the following information: complete name and address of the author(s); telephone and email address; author’s highest degree; academic affiliation; specification of the research area of the article.

8. The word ABSTRACT must be in capital letters (it should not be followed by a colon), three single lines below the name of the author, without indentation. Begin the text of the abstract on the line below.
8.1 The text of the abstract, in English, should be below the word ABSTRACT, not indented, and should not exceed 150 words.
8.2 The KEY WORDS, between three to five words or short expressions, should be placed on the line following the abstract, single-spaced and in English. Only the first letter of each word or expression should be in capital letters. Semi-colons should be used to separate keywords.
8.3 The same guidelines will be applied to the writing of the RESUMO (Italic font) and the PALAVRAS-CHAVE. The guidelines are also identical for the writing of the RESUMO, in Spanish, or the RÉSUMÉ, in French.
9. Examples in languages that differ from the original language of the article must be accompanied by translations or glosses. All information used in the work should use a continuous numeric sequence throughout the text.
10. Bibliographic references should be listed at the end of the text, as outlined below:
10.1 Book: AUTHOR´S SURNAME, author´s first name, Title of the book, place of publication, publisher, date of publication.
E.g: ILARI, Rodolfo. Linguística Românica, São Paulo, Ática, 2001.
10.2 Article : AUTHOR´S SURNAME, author´s first name, title of article, name of journal, city, volume and publication number, pages, date of publication.
E.g.: D’ANGELIS, Wilmar da Rocha. Aquisição do sistema fonológico do português: correlações opositivas, traços e hierarquização. Cadernos de Estudos Linguísticos. Campinas, no. 39, p.23-40, jul/dez.2000.
10.3 Monographs, dissertations and theses: AUTHOR´S SURNAME, author´s first name. Title - subtítle, year, number of volumes or pages (specification of the work and its area of specialization) faculty name, university name, city.
E.g.: LEAL, Maria Auxiliadora da Fonseca. Complementos preposicionados no sintagma verbal do português: uma abordagem sincrônica e diacrônica, 1992, 175 f., (Dissertação de Mestrado em Estudos Linguísticos), Faculdade de Letras, Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais, Belo Horizonte.
10.4 Online publications: AUTHOR’S SURNAME, author’s name, Title of the article, Title of the periodical.City, volume, number, year. Available in: [electronic address]. Date of Access: day/month/year.

11. Illustrations provided must be of a quality sufficient for good graphic reproduction. They must be identified, with title or subtitle, and designated in the text using an abbreviated format such as figure (Fig. 1, Fig. 2, etc.)
12. All responsibility for the content of articles published by the review Caletroscópio remains exclusively with the respective authors.
The publication Caletroscopio shall retain for a period of three years all authorial rights for works accepted for publication: articles, reviews, translations, etc. Outside this restriction, these works are licenced through Licença Creative Commons-Atribuição-NãoComercial-SemDerivações 4.0 Internacional.
Upon expiry of this period, in the event that the author publishes the text, even when making alterations to the original, we would ask authors to include as a footnote, the information that a previous version of the article was published in the Revista Caletroscópio, citing the appropriate references.
The names and addresses published in this journal are to be used exclusively for such services as provided by this publication, all other uses, direct or indirect, being expressly forbidden.
