Submissions

Author Guidelines

• All the submitted work are previously judged by the Editorial Board and selected in accordance to the affinity with the editorial policy of the journal.

• The selected texts will be object of analysis from the Editorial Board, the ad hoc reviewers, or both.

• The submitted texts must be in accordance with all the editorial norms of the journal.

• The ARTEFILOSOFIA journal operates with the peer review system, in the double blind modality.

• The accepted texts will be published in the subsequent numbers, based in the Editorial Board criterion.

• The texts must be written in Portuguese, Spanish, Italian, French, German or English.

APCs (ARTICLE PROCESSING CHARGES) AND SUBMISSION FEES

• The journal does not charge authors any fee.

• The process of submission, evaluation and publishing is free of charge and provided by the ARTEFILOSOFIA journal.

STANDARD FORMAT

• Papers must have a minimum of 15 pages and a maximum of 25 pages.

• All works must have: title, resume in the language of the text with a maximum of 5 key words in the language of the text; title and resume in English with a maximum of 5 key words in English; both (title + resume) with a maximum of 180 words; single spaced.

• Do not use advanced resources of editing, like topic structure or similar.

• The text must be in: A4 paper, Microsoft Word type of document, “normal style” or “body text”

• Times New Roman font, with size 12 for the body text, size 11 for long quotes (more than three lines) and size 10 for footnotes.

• The paper must be in 1.5 spacing for the body text and single spaced for long quotes (more than three lines) and footnotes.

• Paragraphs must be justified, with 2.5 cm margins for the body text and 4 cm for long quotes (more than three lines).

• Direct quotations with less than 3 lines should include double quotation marks in the text body, without the inclusion of other effects (italic, underline, bold), unless in the case of the author’s emphasis(in bold). Long quotes (more than three lines) must have a 4 cm indentation from the left margin, in font size 11, single spaced and without quotation marks.

• The illustrations (graphics, tables, drawings, maps, etc.) must be numbered and titled as close as possible to the element which they refer. The source must be reported. Authors are responsible for ensure that nothing in the illustration infringes any copyrights or intellectual property rights relating to the reproduction of the images.

• Bibliographic references must be listed at the end of the text, in alphabetical order and single spaced. The author's names can not be replaced by indents or dashes.

• Use lowercase initial for cardinal points, regions and historical periods.

• The use of italic resource in the text body shall be utilized only for foreign terms. Use bold for titles and emphasis.

1.1 Further Rules

• Titles in Portuguese must contain only the first letter capitalized.
  E.g: Crítica da razão pura (e não Crítica da Razão Pura).

• Títulos em inglês must contain the first letter capitalized, except for prepositions and articles E.g.: Critique of Pure Reason (not Critique Of Pure Reason).

2. Quotations

The quotations (direct, indirect and quotation of quotation) are indicated through reference notes (footnotes) in consecutive Arabic numerical system, in accordance with the ABNT NBR 6023: 2018. Examples:

Direct quotations (textual transcription):

• Short quotes (up to 3 lines) must be incorporated in the body text, between quotation marks, followed by reference as in the example above. .

• Long quotes (more than three lines) must be formatted with a 4 cm indent, justified paragraphs, single spaced, in font size 11, without quotation marks; followed by reference notes as in the example above.

Indirect quotations (simple reference to consulted author):

• Regarding indirect quotations, indicating the pages is optional. The author's last name must be followed by the publication date. Example: Arendt (1989) notices...

Quotation of a quotation:

• It is not recommended to use this kind of quotation. For the cases in which this recommendation does not apply, the notes must provide a reference of the indicated quotation by "apud" and followed by the work consulted. Examples: (GIDE, 1938, p. 25 apud ARENDT, 1989, p. 385).

2.1 Other rules

• In short direct quotations, the author, date and page numbers must be inserted after the quotation marks and after the punctuation sign: e.g.  "We never see neither the idea, nor freedom face to face" (MERLEAU-PONTY, 2014, p. 96).

• In short direct quotations, the author, date and page numbers must be inserted after the quotation marks and before the commas and semicolons: e.g. "We never see neither the idea, nor freedom face to face". (MERLEAU-PONTY, 2014, p. 96).

• In indirect quotations, the author, date - and left to choice, the pages - must be placed after the information and before possible punctuation marks: e.g. According to Merleau-Ponty (2014), ... 

• Contents in foreign language must be translated and indicated as indicated: e.g. (ARENDT, 1949, p. 112, our translation.)

• Footnotes should be restricted to the lesser possible, to essential ends only, in ‘justified’ format.
