Abstract

I propose a theoretical discussion on the sociology of art, its object and its intersections with politics, starting from the contemporary moment of deepening of neoliberal subjectivity, although prior to it, accelerated by the COVID-19 pandemic, in the so-called ‘occidental’ countries. To do this, I address the historical validity of philosophies (which in this case are close to the concept of ideologies), in particular, in their symptomatic and coincident aspect, also, common sense, in particular, the corrosive ridicule of their aesthetics and, finally, of the intellectual and the artistic. The results I reached are expressed in the form of a conclusion that attempts to interrelate the topics discussed to propose a synthesis under which the intellectual and the artist, when they are not repeaters of clichés or geniuses-for-themselves, succeed in crowning a ‘real’ historical trend, that is, already in the process of crowning itself.
