Desmoronar o horizonte

Abstract

The Serra do Curral situated in the Iron Quadrangle of Minas Gerais State has been the object of intrusive mineral exploitation over the last three centuries. The history of mining technique allows us to link the local to the global at the world integrated capitalism and to understand the colonial economy's heritage. The increased pace and scale of operations have accelerated the risk to Serra do Curral's stability. Three registers, the academic, the literary and the ethnographic complement each other. The horizon articulates the body and the environment, produces the understanding of being in space; the horizon is dynamic and institutes the subjectivity of each inhabitant. If the horizon constitutes the being, would it make sense to collapse it?
