The multicultural dimension of the new philosophy of musical education

Abstract

This article analizes the multicultural approach of music experience, proposed by New Philosophy of Music Education (NFME), as presented in its multidimensional model. At fi rst, I present the central ideas of multiculturalism and after that, at what extent its infl uence on the multidimentional vision of NFME, that comprehends a triple sense of the word ‘music’: a universal human practice, a contextualized human practice and the emboidement of that practice into musical works.
