Diálogo com André Prous sobre sua trajetória no estudo da arte rupestre

Abstract

This text presents a dialogue with André Prous, retired full professor at the Federal University of Minas Gerais, member of the French Mission and the Franco-Brazilian Mission, founder of the Archaeology Sector of the Museum of Natural History and Botanical Garden of UFMG. The dialogue addresses his trajectory in Rock Art research in Brazil, of which he is a profound connoisseur, in order to highlight the ways in which he constructed his approach and was influenced by the collection of paintings and engravings existing in the national territory and the construction of his perception of pre-colonial indigenous aesthetics. The text addresses topics such as Prous's interests in Brazilian archaeology, the reasons why he began rock art studies, and the paths he experienced from his youth to maturity to consolidate methods and techniques appropriate to the rock context found in Brazil.
