Focus and Scope

The Ephemera Journal publishes essays and papers that can be resulted from bibliographic reviews, investigations and experiments reports, academic research and creative reflections on contemporary creative processesand /or important historical landmarks in Theatre and Perforance Studies and theirs dialogue with humanities in general.

It accepts contributions in Portuguese, English and Spanish, in order to collaborate with the growth and diffusion of the area knowledge at a global level.

Therefore, the journal presents three differte sections in order to contemplate such diversity of approaches :

Dossier
In each issue, a guest editor will organize articles by relevant researchers on a specific topic predetermined by the editor-in-chief.

Article
Authors may submit their papers for peer-review at any time, so it is not necessary to wait for a specific call for papers as long as the theme is within Ephemera's focus and scope. 

Acontece
This is our miscelanea and multimedia section. It accepts contributions in a variety of formats: interviews, book reviews, and show reviews, festivals, photo essays and other visual experiences, and experimental formats as well.

Peer Review Process

The materials submitted to Ephemera Journal will go through either a double blind peer review or a single blind process, a process that can take three months. 

The reviewers are chosen from among the Editorial Board members as well as from external researchers (ad hoc peer-reviers), all PhDs in related areas of expertize.

Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

Journal History

Ephemera is a publication of the PPGAC / UFOP (Performing Arts Graduate Program, from Federal University of Ouro Preto, Brazil). Being a newborn journal, its proposal is to contribute globally to the diffusion and free circulation of artistic and scientific knowledge in the field of Theatre and Performance studies, deepening it in its dialogue with different artistic languages in their multiple approaches and, above all, in their interdisciplinary approach with the humanities.

We publish essays and articles resulting from bibliographic reviews, reports of investigations and experiments, resulting from academic research and creative reflections on the contemporary processes of creation and important historical landmarks in the theatre and performance studies, accepting contributions in different languages. The magazine is divided into three thematic sections that seek to contemplate the diversity of approaches and themes prevailing in the current scene of theatre and performing studies.

Ephemera was born in December 2018 as a digital publication, trying to make the most of this media, intending to be an agile and dynamic publication, raise and born in the digital environment, indicating, through hyperlink, collections of images, photos, texts, videos or different records that can help in understanding and enjoyment of different kinds of performances. As of 2020, its publication becomes triannual. And in 2023 it changed to rolling pass, but in 2024 it returned to publish 3 issues per year.
