Abstract

The Speculative Garden is part of the book Out of Clear, where philosopher, artist and activist Erin Manning essays through the challenges and discovers that arise with the 3 Ecologies Institue, center for transversal pedagogies that was founded after the Sense Lab, located at the village of Saint-Anne du Lac (QC, Canada). From the walks and learnings with Remy, responsible for the activities of land care, including cutting down the trees at the 3E, the author elaborates the notion of valuation. Manning underscores the importance of undoing the distances between subject and nature, cultural practices and natural resources management as it questions the upscaling of solutions for the emergent environmental collapse. This work provokes us to face the depths of the roots of whiteness installed in the modes through which we relate to the earth.
