Adaptations on virtualities of the double in theatre

from digital double to digital self

Keywords: double, digital double, intermedia performance, presence

Abstract

This article departs from Antonin Artaud’s concept of Virtuality since his theory of Double in Theatre to reflect on the poetics of contemporary intermedia performance. From this approach, I review the concept of Digital Double thought by Steve Dixon to interpret the universe of digital performance. Finally, I come to what I conceive as Digital Self, a concept that interrogates from a practice-based research on how we produce presence in performances where the e Double is both as subject and synthetic images of the Self.
