About the Journal
Focus and Scope
Virtualia Journal (formerly Fundamento) is a peer-reviewed scholarly journal published by the Department of Philosophy of the Federal University of Ouro Preto (UFOP). It is an electronic, open-access publication. The journal publishes original and unpublished articles in the field of Philosophy, Arts, and Technology, presenting original results of studies and research related to the activities, theoretical discussions, and ongoing debates within the fields of philosophy, and art as applied to technology, in Portuguese, English, and Spanish.
Publication Frequency
Virtualia Journal adopts a continuous publication model (rolling pass), whereby articles are published individually as soon as they are approved following the peer-review process. Editorial organization is structured within an annual volume, a strategy that contributes to reducing the time between submission, acceptance, and publication.
Open Access Policy
In accordance with the principles of Open Science, Virtualia Journal provides free and unrestricted public access to all its content. Articles are made immediately available upon publication, with no submission, publication, or access fees. The journal is published entirely free of charge. Its issues are also recorded on a public blockchain, ensuring permanent, secure, and publicly verifiable access.

Publication rights: Authors grant the Virtualia Journal the right of first publication under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license, which allows sharing and adaptation of the work with proper credit.
Author freedoms: Authors retain full copyright of their articles and may republish them in whole in books, institutional repositories, personal websites, or any other medium, without requesting permission from the journal, as long as proper citation of the original publication in Virtualia Journal is provided.
Journal History
Virtualia Journal is an interdisciplinary academic journal established by the Department of Philosophy of the Federal University of Ouro Preto, dedicated to the publication of original research in Philosophy, Art, and Technology. The journal succeeded Fundamento: Revista de Pesquisa em Filosofia, inheriting more than fifteen years of editorial history while significantly expanding its thematic scope.
