Author Guidelines

1) GENERAL ASPECTS:

  • The Ephemera Journal aims to contribute to the dissemination and free circulation of artistic and scientific knowledge in the field of Theatre and Performance Studies, deepening it in its dialogue with different artistic languages, multiple approaches and, above all, in their interdisciplinary approach to Humanities To this end, it publishes essays and articles resulting from bibliographic reviews, reports of investigations and experiments, academic research and creative reflections on contemporary processes of creation and important historical landmarks in the performing arts, accepting contributions from national and foreign authors. The magazine publishes only unpublished materials whose themes are related to our proposal.
  • The texts can be written in Portuguese, English or Spanish.
  • Ephemera Journal receives articles for Open Session and thematic dossiers through quarterly calls.
  • The author(s) must have a doctoral degree, however, doctoral students, masters and master's students are accepted, provided that they are co-authored with the advisor. Exceptions can be made in cases of remarkable material.
  • The Ephemera journal indicates that only (co)authors should be included as researchers who have played a significant role in: (a) elaboration of the research; (b) writing; (c) final revision of the text and that (d) assume full responsibility for the published content. Acting as advisor, by itself, does not characterize authorship in the derived text (in this case, the submitted manuscript). Collaborations that do not imply these four levels should be inserted as acknowledgments at the end of the text.

  • Even in cases of multi-author manuscripts, the authors must forward, as a supplementary document at the time of submission, an indication of how and in which stages each of the authors participated, using the CRediT standard (http://casrai.org/credit/) – for a translated version, see http://www.abralin.org/circulares/rabralin/CRediT.pdf. This information will appear at the end of the published article.

Given the formal specifications, proposals will undergo an initial screening by the editors of the Journal. The evaluation will consider the authors' academic background, the language's adequacy, the argument's critical quality, and the adjustment to the journal's editorial line.

After the initial screening, accepted proposals will be submitted to at least two peer-reviewers. The estimated time for evaluation and issuance of a final opinion is between thirty and sixty days from the date of receipt of the proposal.

  • font: 12-point Garamond;
  • justified margins with paragraphs 1.25 cm from the left margin;
  • quotations longer than three lines should be detached from the text body, single spaced, 11-point Garamond, without quotation marks and indented 4 cm from the left margin;

  • italics are used in foreign words, neologisms, particular uses and titles of works. Bold is not used in these cases;

According to ABNT NBR 6028 (2021), the abstract should inform: the objectives, the methodology, the results, and the conclusions of the paper. It should be written in a concise way in one paragraph, without topics and, preferably, in the third person. It should contain between 100 and 250 words. It should avoid symbols and contractions that are not common. The keywords should come right after the abstract, announced by the expression Keywords, followed by semi-colons; and ended with a full stop. They should be written in low case, except when it comes to proper nouns or abbreviations. Add the maximum of five keywords.

Keywords: separated; by; semi; colons; ABNT; Brazil.

References:

References should be in the author/date format as follows: (Author's surname, year) for indirect quotations and (Author's surname, year, page) for direct quotations. Examples: (Smith, 1997) or (Smith, 1997, p.452). Different titles by the same author and year should be identified with a letter that distinguishes them. Example: (Smith, 1997a, p. 452).

References at the end of the text must comply with ABNT rules (available at http://www.ufrgs.br/faced/setores/biblioteca/referencias.html [Portuguese only]). We point out to the fact that the journal does not make use (due to the electronic data retrieval) of a dash to replace the author's name to avoid repetition. Titles should be in italics.
