The work of Seki Sano as activator of the mexican artistic scene
Abstract
This article aims to discuss the impact of Japanese theater director Seki Sano's work on the Mexican scene. Sano is considered the father of Mexican theater and was the founder of the Teatro de Artes, where he developed a new theatrical pedagogy. The article contextualizes his work, addresses his background in Japan and Russia, and the connections with other artists such as Meyerhold and Stanislavski, among others. The main question concerns contextual singularities and transculturalities in theater, since it is not only about the application of specific theatrical techniques, but, above all, the emergence of some issues that make us think about the theatrical scene and pedagogical aspects, in Japan and in the Latin American context.
