About the Journal

BRIEF HISTORY
REVEMOP (eISSN: 2596-0245) was established in January 2019 by a group of professors from the Graduate Program in Mathematics Education (PPGEDMAT) at the Federal University of Ouro Preto (UFOP), Brazil. Since its inception, the Editorial Team has followed the principles of good editorial practices and sought resources to foster its growth. In 2020, the journal adopted the Rolling Pass publication model. In 2023, REVEMOP secured funding through calls for proposals from the Office of Research, Graduate Studies, and Innovation (PROPPI) and the Research Support Foundation of the State of Minas Gerais (FAPEMIG).

With this financial support, the journal was able to modernize its template, increase the number of articles published in English, and publish in XML format through AmeliCA. These initiatives boosted access metrics and visibility. For instance, in 2023, REVEMOP had a Google Scholar h5-index of 9; by 2025, it had risen significantly to 16, surpassing several journals rated as Qualis A1 in the CAPES Teaching Area.

Thus, REVEMOP is an international journal supported by a renowned editorial board and reviewers from both Brazil and abroad. It is currently rated as a Qualis B2 journal by CAPES (Brazil) for the 2020–2024 quadrennium.
AIMS AND SCOPE
REVEMOP seeks to contribute to the reflection and dissemination of knowledge about mathematics teaching and learning processes, aspects of teacher professional development, and epistemological, philosophical, didactic, methodological, and conceptual dimensions of mathematics.

The editorial policy prioritizes original and unpublished scientific articles in Mathematics Education, including works that foster dialogue with related fields. Accepted manuscripts include Research Articles, Review Articles (critical, systematic, or integrative), and Theoretical Essays derived from scientific and professional reflection in Mathematics Education.

REVEMOP is published in Portuguese with the option of bilingual publication (online format). The journal receives submissions on a rolling basis in Portuguese, English, and Spanish. The minimum requirement for article submission is a doctoral degree. In the case of multiple authors, at least one must hold a Ph.D.

The Editorial Board may also invite thematic sections that review specific areas or address emerging issues in Mathematics Education research.
PERIODICITY
REVEMOP follows a continuous publication model. All manuscripts undergo rigorous double-blind peer review to ensure quality and relevance. Once accepted, articles are immediately published in continuous editions, allowing authors a rapid and efficient publication process. This model ensures agile and up-to-date knowledge dissemination.
TARGET AUDIENCE
REVEMOP is intended primarily for:

a) Faculty and students in undergraduate programs such as Mathematics Education, Pedagogy, and other teacher education programs;

b) Researchers (faculty and graduate students) in graduate programs in Mathematics Education, Education, Science and Mathematics Teaching, and other CAPES-recognized programs in the field of Teaching.
MISSION
REVEMOP’s mission is to advance research in Mathematics Education through the publication of original studies, pedagogical practices, and theoretical reflections, thereby contributing to the improvement of mathematics teaching and learning processes, professional development of educators, and theoretical aspects of mathematics education.

The journal focuses on investigating phenomena related to the teaching and learning of mathematics, teacher professional development, and epistemological, philosophical, didactic, methodological, and conceptual aspects of mathematics.
PEER REVIEW PROCESS
Submitted manuscripts are reviewed by at least two members of the Scientific Council or ad hoc reviewers. Reviewers are selected based on the article's subject, technical expertise, and absence of conflicts of interest. The peer review process is double-blind and may result in: Accept (as submitted); Revisions required (with adjustments); Resubmission (with a new round of review); Reject (not accepted for publication).

Authors are notified after the review process with a final decision and further instructions. Official acceptance or rejection letters are issued only once the article has undergone full peer review.

The evaluation process complies with editorial policies and is conducted by the editorial team and external reviewers. The editor-in-chief and associate editors may suggest modifications, but the authors retain full responsibility for the submitted content.
